COURSE INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Water Confidence & Swimming Foundations
Welcome to your step-by-step water confidence and swimming foundations program.
This course is designed for beginners who want to become more comfortable, confident, and controlled in the water before learning a complete swimming stroke.
You will start with simple water skills and gradually progress through breathing, floating, body balance, safe recovery, and gliding.
You do not need to know how to swim before starting this course.
The goal is to help you build the foundation you need before progressing to breaststroke or freestyle.
What You Will Learn
Throughout this course, you will learn how to:
- Become more comfortable being in the water.
- Put your face in the water with greater confidence.
- Inhale above the water and exhale underwater.
- Develop a calm and controlled breathing rhythm.
- Understand how water supports your body.
- Float in a face-down position.
- Develop basic back-floating skills.
- Improve your body balance in the water.
- Return to standing safely from a floating position.
- Create a streamlined body position.
- Push off the wall and glide approximately 4–5 meters.
- Move and control your body more confidently in the water.
- Build the basic skills needed to begin learning breaststroke or freestyle.
Before You Start
Always practice in a safe swimming environment.
Choose a pool area that is appropriate for your current ability and where you can return to standing comfortably.
Whenever possible, practice where a lifeguard or responsible training partner is present.
Do not force yourself to complete a drill if you feel:
- Panicked.
- Dizzy.
- Extremely tired.
- Short of breath.
- Uncomfortable or out of control.
Water confidence develops through repeated successful experiences.
There is no need to rush.
How to Use This Course
For every lesson:
- Read the lesson introduction.
- Watch the full video before practicing.
- Review the key points.
- Practice the recommended pool drills.
- Focus on one skill at a time.
- Repeat the drills as many times as needed.
- Complete the Success Check.
- Mark the lesson complete when you are ready.
Some skills may feel easy.
Others may require several practice sessions.
That is completely normal.
The goal is not to finish the course as quickly as possible.
The goal is to become calmer, safer, and more confident in the water while building a strong foundation for learning to swim.
