COURSE INTRODUCTION

Welcome to Freestyle Swimming for Beginners

Welcome to your step-by-step freestyle swimming program.

This course is designed for beginners who want to learn freestyle in a clear and practical way — from body position and kicking to breathing, arm movement, coordination, and finally swimming your first complete 25 meters.

You do not need to learn everything at once.

Freestyle becomes much easier when you break it down into smaller skills and practice them in the correct order.

What You Will Learn

Throughout this course, you will learn how to:

  • Maintain a balanced body position in the water.
  • Develop an effective freestyle kick.
  • Exhale comfortably underwater.
  • Rotate your body and breathe to the side.
  • Perform the freestyle arm stroke.
  • Coordinate your arms, legs, body rotation, and breathing.
  • Swim freestyle continuously for approximately 25 meters.
  • Record and analyze your own swimming technique.
  • Continue progressing toward 50–100 meters.

Before You Start

Before beginning the course, you should be reasonably comfortable:

  • Entering and exiting the pool.
  • Putting your face in the water.
  • Exhaling underwater.
  • Practicing in a safe swimming area.
  • Returning to a standing position after a short glide.

If you are still afraid of the water or uncomfortable with these basic skills, spend more time developing water confidence before continuing.

Whenever possible, practice where a lifeguard or responsible training partner is present.

How to Use This Course

For every lesson:

  1. Read the lesson introduction.
  2. Watch the full video before practicing.
  3. Review the key points.
  4. Practice the recommended pool drills.
  5. Focus on one skill at a time.
  6. Complete the Success Check.
  7. Mark the lesson complete when you are ready.

There is no need to rush.

Some students may complete a lesson in one session, while others may need several sessions.

The goal is not to finish the course as quickly as possible.

The goal is to develop freestyle that feels controlled, comfortable, and repeatable.
